Meet the founders of The Finance Girlies ✶
We’re friends, writers, podcast hosts, and two people who care deeply about money and meaning.
We started The Finance Girlies because we were tired of personal finance advice that felt totally disconnected from real life.
The kind that assumes everyone has the same goals, the same timeline, the same privileges — and that if you’re “doing it wrong,” it’s because you didn’t try hard enough.
That never sat right with us.
Cassidy & Emily.
We’re finance writers for brands like these…
Why we started The Finance Girlies
Both of us have spent years working in personal finance — writing about it, researching it, interviewing experts, and living it in our own messy, human lives.
And what we kept noticing was this gap.
So many women were interested in money.
But not interested enough to wade into spaces that felt loud, rigid, shame-y, or dominated by people who didn’t really get them.
Places where:
You’re expected to already know the rules
Questions feel embarrassing
Advice is prescriptive and one-size-fits-all
And nuance gets completely ignored
The Finance Girlies was born out of that disconnect.
We wanted to create a space where money conversations feel like sitting on the couch with a friend…
where curiosity is welcome…
where stories matter more than rules…
where you’re allowed to change your mind, move slowly, and build a life that actually feels like yours.
We don’t believe in yelling advice at you
(like some balding white finance guys like to do, ahem…)
Instead, we believe in:
Telling honest stories about what’s worked for us (and what hasn’t)
Earning enough to sustain the life we want — without building a life we’re too busy to enjoy
Spending generously on what matters to us, and cutting back on what doesn’t
Our goal is never to tell you what to do. It’s to help you trust yourself enough to decide.
Meet Emily
Emily is the calm, grounded heart of The Finance Girlies — and our resident conscious consumerism queen 👑.
She’s thoughtful, outdoorsy, and deeply intentional about how money intersects with values, sustainability, and daily life. Emily loves asking questions like: Do I actually want this? and What does “enough” look like for me?
When she’s not talking about money, you’ll probably find her:
Running, hiking, or paddleboarding
At the farmers market
Doing yoga
Hanging with her dog, Clover
Supporting local businesses
Emily brings a steady, compassionate lens to money — especially when it comes to spending with intention and designing a life that leaves room for rest.
Meet Cassidy
Cassidy is the curious, joyful energy behind The Finance Girlies.
She’s honest, self-aware, and unafraid to talk about the messy middle — from divorce and starting over to money anxieties and shedding old beliefs. Cassidy loves asking questions like: What’s really driving this decision? and How do I make money support my real life?
When she’s not talking about money, you’ll probably find her:
Planning a craft night
Blasting some lesser-known Taylor Swift song
Crocheting something colorful
Hosting a cozy dinner with friends
Doting on her precious angel of a cat, Winston
Cassidy brings heart and nuance to money conversations — especially when it comes to starting over, navigating big life transitions, and building a life that feels joyful on purpose.
How we met
Emily and Cassidy met in real life for the first time in July 2022 at a copywriting conference in Los Angeles.
By then, they already felt like old friends.
For over a year before that trip, they’d been having monthly coffee chats on Zoom — bonding over finance writing, shared clients, and the strange experience of building a career online.
The idea for The Finance Girlies really clicked in Summer 2024 while on a business retreat in Colorado.
Somewhere between deep conversations, mountain air, and making matching friendship bracelets that literally said “the finance girlies,” Emily floated the idea of starting a podcast.
Cassidy immediately said yes.
At the time, they had no idea those bracelets would become the name of the show — but it felt right in all the best ways.
In October 2024, The Finance Girlies officially launched.
Who this space is for…
The Finance Girlies is for people who are curious about money — but have never quite felt at home in traditional finance spaces.
Maybe you’ve wanted to learn more, but the advice felt cold. Or loud. Or like it wasn’t meant for you unless you already knew the rules.
Maybe you didn’t see your life, your relationships, or your values reflected anywhere — so you quietly opted out.
We call our community “the girlies,” but this space is for anyone who wants to feel seen in money conversations.
If you’ve ever felt out of place in traditional finance spaces, you belong here.
Come hang out with us <3
Whether you’re listening to the podcast, reading the newsletter, or quietly lurking — we’re really glad you’re here.
This space exists because of the girlies.
And it’s better with you in it.
